Scout Day at Lime Rock
Camp trackside Friday night, then wake up to vintage race cars. One of our biggest pack campouts — and the easiest way to try tent camping for the first time.
Registration closes Friday, October 2 at 5:59 PM — and the waiver has to be signed before you reach the gate.

Scout Day itself is Saturday. Most families arrive Friday to camp.
Cost
$10 for ages 5–10, $25 for age 11 and up
Ages 4 and under are free. Adults pay the $25 rate.

Class B pack t-shirts — the bright blue ones
They make it easy to spot Pack 11 in a crowd. Need one? Just ask.
A favorite among our pack veterans
Scout Day is Saturday, October 3rd, but most families go the night before and camp out. We typically have a large number of families attending, so it is a great way to get to know everyone better in the pack.
The kids often bring their bikes and ride around the infield. There is an outdoor movie Friday night once it gets dark, and we usually bring fire pits and snacks. Saturday is filled with council-run events, and the kids can explore the vintage race cars that zip around the track starting early in the morning.
If you are new to the pack, this is a simple and stress-free way to introduce tent camping to your kids.
How the two days go
Nothing here is a fixed schedule — it is how the weekend usually runs.
Friday night
October 2 — gates open 6:00 PM
- Arrive and pitch your tentSet up right away — it gets dark early in October.
- Fire pits and snacksFamilies bring raised fire pits and something to share. Eat dinner before you arrive.
- Outdoor movie after darkBring camp chairs and a blanket — it gets cold once the sun is down.
Saturday
October 3 — Scout Day, until 4:00 PM
- Vintage race cars, earlyCars start running early in the morning. This is the wake-up call.
- Concessions open at 7:30 AMThe Paddock A stand runs until roughly 4:00 PM.
- Council-run events all dayPlus the cars up close, and bikes on the skid pad by camp.
How to register
Registration goes through the council, not the pack. The form has a few steps that are easy to miss — here they are in order.
- Create a MyCouncil accountIt is worth doing even if you only ever use it once. Then choose the green Register Online link.
- Pick “Families / Individuals”Choose how many children and adults are coming, then hit Register as a Group.
- Choose the red “add information”On the next page, enter the pack details exactly as shown alongside.
- Enter a parent as the group leaderThe primary contact should be a parent, not a scout. Keep adding information as prompted, then Save.
- Keep your order summaryOn your phone, in email, or printed — it is your proof at the gate. You will be handed a wristband to wear Saturday.

When you pull in
- Drive in and cross the small bridge that passes over the raceway.
- Immediately on the right there is a loop — a cul-de-sac type parking lot. That is the one.
- Pack 11 sets up to the back right as you enter, along the fence. Watch for our bright blue Class B shirts.
- Start setting up your tent right away — it gets dark pretty early.
What to pack
It can get very cold at night. Extra blankets, jackets, long underwear, hats and a change of shoes all come in handy — and dressing in layers is the warmest, most flexible approach.

Steve calls out the last two in particular — chairs get used at the fire, the movie and the races, and the kids ride the skid pad all weekend.
Friday dinner
Friday night is a hustle to get there and set up camp, so plan on eating dinner before you arrive.
Saturday breakfast
Something light and easy — cereal or granola bars. If you like cooking while camping, go crazy. Concessions open at 7:30 AM.
Water
Bring enough for you and your scout. Coolers are fine — but no glass containers anywhere on the property.
Good to know
- Are there restrooms?
- Yes. Bathrooms and port-o-potties are on the tent-camp grounds.
- Is there electricity?
- No. Plan on not plugging anything in, and charge your phones accordingly.
- Can the kids ride bikes?
- Yes — youth and adults must wear a helmet at all times while riding, and riding is restricted to the camping area only.
- What about fires?
- No ground fires. Raised fires in fire pits are fine, and several families bring one.
- Can I buy food there?
- Yes. The Paddock A concession stand is open Saturday from 7:30 AM to approximately 4:00 PM.
- Can I bring my dog?
- No. Dogs are not allowed on Lime Rock Park property during track events.
- What if it rains?
- All road-racing events run rain or shine. Pack rain gear and come anyway.
- Where do we watch from?
- All spectating is from a grassy, tree-shaded viewing area — blankets and lawn chairs are a must.
